Meet Dr. Viviane Girard

Chiropractor

Hi, I’m Dr. Viviane Girard, chiropractor. I received my chiropractic degree from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières in 2018 and have worked in multidisciplinary clinics since the beginning of my career. I value collaboration with other healthcare professionals and believe it plays an important role in supporting effective, well-rounded care. My work focuses on movement, alignment, and comfort, with an appreciation for the active rhythm of mountain life and the importance of caring for the body in everyday living.

Chiropractic Care Across the Lifespan

Chiropractic care supports the body’s ability to move, adapt, and function well throughout daily life. Through safe, non-invasive, hands-on treatments, chiropractic care can help reduce pain and inflammation, improve mobility, and address movement patterns that may contribute to discomfort or injury. Care is tailored to each individual and may support recovery from injury, management of chronic discomfort, and prevention by promoting better alignment, joint function, and overall movement quality. The goal is to help patients feel comfortable in their bodies and supported in everyday life.

Dr. Viviane’s Approach to Care

At Unravel Therapeutics, Dr. Viviane practices chiropractic with intention, presence, and a focus on the whole person.

  • Whole-Person Focus: Looking beyond the area of pain to understand how your body functions as a system.

  • Thorough Assessments: Time is taken to listen, ask questions, and explore underlying causes.

How Chiropractic Care Works

Chiropractic care is focused on supporting the nervous system and musculoskeletal system to help your body move, adapt, and function optimally. Misalignments or restrictions in the joints—often called subluxations—can affect how your nerves communicate with your body, potentially contributing to pain, stiffness, or reduced mobility.

How adjustments help:

  • Restore joint movement: Adjustments help joints move more freely, reducing restrictions that can limit your body’s function.

  • Support nervous system function: By improving joint mechanics, chiropractic care helps the nervous system communicate more efficiently with muscles and organs.

  • Reduce discomfort and improve mobility: Many patients notice relief from pain, stiffness, or tension after care.

  • Promote overall body function: Chiropractic care is not just about treating symptoms—it’s about helping your body adapt, recover, and prevent future issues.

Adjustments are safe, controlled, and targeted to the joints identified in your assessment. They can be performed manually or with specialized tools like the Activator, depending on your needs and preferences.

What to Expect From Your First Visit

Your care actually begins before you even step into the clinic. When you book your first appointment, you’ll receive a detailed intake form covering all aspects of your health.

During your first visit:

  • Dr. Viviane will review your form and discuss your health, lifestyle, and the reason for your visit. The goal is to understand your situation fully so we can choose the most helpful physical assessments for you.

  • A physical assessment will explore movement, strength, reflexes, and sensitivity. We may gently explore what triggers or relieves discomfort to identify the most likely cause of your symptoms.Everything is done thoughtfully and at your pace to make sure you feel safe and comfortable.

  • Findings are reviewed together. Dr. Viviane will explain the diagnosis, discuss further tests if needed, and outline a treatment plan. You are always encouraged to share your preferences, and together you will adjust the approach so you feel comfortable, informed, and in agreement with every step.

  • Your first treatment may include adjustments, mobilizations, soft tissue work, exercises, posture guidance, and lifestyle recommendations. A timeline for follow-up and expected progress will be provided.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Chiropractic care can often help conditions affecting the nerves, muscles, and joints. Results vary depending on the cause of discomfort. The initial consultation determines whether care is appropriate or if referral to another healthcare professional is needed. If you are not sure if Dr Viviane can help, feel free to email her with your questions.

  • A chiropractic adjustment is a controlled movement applied to a joint to improve mobility and support how the nervous and musculoskeletal systems function. Adjustments are chosen carefully based on your evaluation.

  • The sound you may hear during an adjustment is called a cavitation. It happens when pressure changes within the joint allow gas to be released from the joint fluid — similar to the sound you might hear when opening a sealed container. The sound itself is harmless and does not indicate damage or bones rubbing together.

  • Most people do not find adjustments painful. Care is always adapted to comfort, and you are encouraged to communicate at any time.

  • Chiropractic adjustments are precise, controlled, and based on a clinical assessment of how your joints are moving. Cracking your own back often involves repeated movements without targeting a specific joint or addressing the underlying cause of discomfort.

  • It’s common to have questions about chiropractic care. The sound, or cavitation, that sometimes occurs during an adjustment is safe and expected. Dr. Girard’s approach is calm, adaptable, and always guided by your comfort and consent. If an adjustment isn’t something you want, there are always other effective ways to work together — you will never be pressured into a treatment.

If you prefer not to have an adjustment, other techniques are available, including:

    • Muscle and soft tissue work

    • Subtle joint mobilization

    • Breath coaching

    • Movement and posture guidance

    • Use of an activator

  • An Activator is a small handheld instrument delivering a precise, controlled impulse to a joint. It is used when a low-force approach is preferred, manual adjustments are not recommended, discomfort makes certain positions difficult, or a more precise technique is needed.

Bridging the Gap for the Lifestyle Athlete

In a community where movement is part of daily life, care needs to be thoughtful, efficient, and grounded in understanding the whole body.

Dr. Girard works with what she calls the lifestyle athlete—people who may not identify as competitive athletes, but who are deeply active in their wellbeing. Whether you hike, ski, climb, bike, train, work physically, or simply move often and intentionally, your body deserves care that supports how it functions as a whole.

Her approach bridges the gap between traditional chiropractic and the gentle, integrative style many associate with osteopathic care.

You’ll leave appointments with a clearer understanding of how your body moves, why certain areas are under strain, and what you can do to support long-term resilience.

Efficient, Intelligent Treatment
Rather than chasing symptoms, care focuses on helping structures move more efficiently—reducing unnecessary compensation and allowing your body to adapt and recover more effectively.

The goal is to empower you, not make you dependent on care.
